Ribbed web stitch: it's one of those lovely detatched stitches you can stick over a hole, even one of reasonable size. First, here's a trio in variegated thread: a great ruse for that there stripey look. Then here's a little fix on a black CDG cardi I got for a song because holes in back of the neck (not moths for once). Just one ribbed web over the main holes, in a shade matching the ombré edge (which you can't see here) plus a little satin stitch on the edge in a paler mauve, and a--I don't know what to call that little pink splodge.
